Dr Donnelly said at federation in 1901, the overwhelming majority of Australians identified as Christian.

“And more recently, the latest census that’s been published – I think it was only about 52 per cent – but it’s still quite a significant number of people,” he told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“One of the chapters in the book is by Augusto Zimmermann – a lawyer from Perth – he quite in some detail explains how our political, our legal systems, are underpinned by Christianity.”
